PCI Compliance

The most reliable and preferred types of equipment are described below.
Note: Because of new “PCI compliancy” issues, some terminals may be nearing an “end of life cycle” which will require you to upgrade to newer equipment in the future.

If you already own your equipment, we can most likely just reprogram it.

If you are interested in new equipment, we can discuss the choices and benefits of each.

Tip: Always remind your customer how the charge will appear (your business name) on their bill.

The Good, Old Fashioned "Knuckle-Buster"

Equipment/ManualImprinter.gif
Manual Imprinter

If you "knuckle-bust" at shows using a manual imprinter, please make sure that the full number and the expiration date is clear. You should also get an address (where card is billed), a phone number, and the 3-digit security code on back of the card. If possible, a cell number and email address would be good to have as well. This knuckle-bust form may be helpful.

Wireless Terminal Options
These must be activated and will have monthly wireless access fees.

Verifon Vx610

The Verifone Vx610 Wireless All-in-One with SoftPay software/CDMA is considered the best portable, battery-powered wireless terminal available. It offers high-speed performance and is very easy to use. It provides real-time authorizations with the most coverage for wireless communication, has an ATM style screen, and offers an internal pin-pad for true debit transactions. Verifone Vx610 Guide.

Exadigm 2000

The Exadigm 2000 modular design ensures that the terminal hardware is easily upgradeable avoiding redundancy due to changes in technology. The interchaneable modem enables the terminal to support a range of wired and wireless communication types. Exadigm 2000 Guide.

Way Systems

Way Systems is the smallest wireless solution. The terminal looks and operates just like a cell phone.  It communicates with the separate printer via infrared technology (sort of like your TV remote). WAY Systems provides data service on the Cingular ALLOVER(SM) network, giving you the "most bars in the most places." WAY System Guide.

Store and Forward Terminal Options
Store and Forward Terminals allow you to electronically swipe the customer's credit card right at the show. The terminal will "store" the card information but will not dial out for a real-time authorization since they are not wireless and there is no phone connection at the time of sale. Once a phone line is available, you simply "forward" or "upload" the stored transactions and the terminal will then dial out for authorization on all of those stored transactions at the same time (at the end of the day or upon return to your studio after a show.)

Tip: Any declines will be indicated when the transactions are uploaded. Please make sure to get a phone number and address when using these terminals for Store and Forward.

Equipment/Vx610.gif
Verifon Vx610

The Verifone Vx610 can be activated and used as a non-wireless terminal with store and forward capability. This is the best choice as it is the most reliable, is PCI Compliant and can also be activated, if desired, for wireless usage. Verifone Vx610 Guide.

Equipment/Nurit8000.gif
Nurit 8000

The Nurit 8000 terminal/printer is easy to use, compact and lightweight. An internal battery pack enables it to operate as a Store/Forward terminal in places without power. However, if already owned, it can no longer be re-programmed for true wireless usage. Nurit 8000 Guide.

Nurit 2085

The Nurit 2085 is a good Store/Forward choice for those who have access to a power source. It can also be used in the studio with a regular land line as a stand-alone terminal. Nurit 2085 Guide.

Standard Terminal Options

Equipment/Tranz330.gif
Tranz 330/380/420

Verifone's Tranz 330 terminal is the most basic, low-cost, easy terminal available for those who only “knuckle-bust”. This is a terminal only solution for the sales/transactions that will be key-entered at the end of the day or the end of a show. Terminal can also be used with the Verifone P250 printer. Tranz 330 Guide.

Equipment/HypercomT7Plus.gif
Hypercom T7Plus

The Hypercom T7Plus Integrated terminal offers high performance and speed in a compact design. Especially for those who key-enter transactions, it is easy to use and generates printed receipts of each transaction. Click here for a Hypercom T7Plus Guide.

Equipment/Omni3200.gif
Omni 3200

The Omni 3200 with SoftPay software has an ATM style screen and integrated thermal printer, making it a simple solution for either card present (in studio) or key-entered transactions.  Click here for an Omni 3200 Guide.

Virtual Terminal

Virtual Terminal

Elavon's "Virtual Terminal" is an easy, economical, hosted software solution that lets you use any PC with an Internet connection to process credit cards. For retail sales, adding a "Mini-wedge" would allow you to swipe the card right on the spot. Otherwise, you could enter the card number separately after the sale via Elavon or Authorize.net software. One great benefit is that you'll never have to upgrade the software because enhancements are received automatically. Virtual Terminal Benefits. Virtual Terminal Information.
